Dumpster rental for Orange County that actually shows up

Orange County is 3.2 million people in 34 cities packed between LA County and San Diego County. Construction here runs hot year-round — kitchen and bath remodels in Irvine, Newport Coast, and Mission Viejo, ADU additions across Anaheim and Santa Ana, tear-down rebuilds in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, condo conversions in Costa Mesa. We dispatch bins from Yorba Linda down to San Clemente, same-day when you call before noon.

OC traffic patterns are different from LA — the 5, 405, and 55 all squeeze at the same hours. Drivers route around them on the 22, 73 toll, and surface streets through Garden Grove and Stanton. The result: fewer late deliveries than you'd expect for the call volume.

One call, two jobs. Need a porta potty for the crew? Bundle it with the dumpster on the same delivery and save 12% on the restroom. Ask the rep when you call.

Why every hour matters

Orange County Doesn't Wait. Neither Should You.

Tight margins, tight schedules, weather windows that close fast. Here is what we hear most.

Crew Standing Around

OC labor rates run $50 to $60 per hour for skilled trades. A four-person crew waiting on a bin burns over $200 an hour.

HOA Push-Back

Most OC master-planned communities (Irvine Ranch, Ladera Ranch, Talega, Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo) have strict HOA rules on bin visibility and dwell time. Tell the rep your community when you book.

Coastal City ROW Restrictions

Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, San Clemente, Dana Point — coastal cities issue fewer ROW permits and turn them slower. Plan ahead or use private property only.

Project Schedule Pressure

Selling season is real in OC. A bin missing for two days can push a flip listing past a peak weekend. We work around the schedule, not the other way.

Orange County dumpster permits, by city

Orange County permitting is more uniform than LA County but still varies by city. Most cities run encroachment permits through their public works department.

Anaheim

Anaheim Public Works issues encroachment permits in 2 to 4 business days, around $85. Disney resort district has additional restrictions within 0.5 mile.

Santa Ana

Standard 2 to 3 business days, fees $70 to $100. Downtown Artists Village has bin visibility restrictions.

Irvine

Permits in 3 to 5 business days, $100 fee. Most Irvine Ranch communities prohibit street bins via HOA regardless of city permit.

Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Clemente

Coastal cities — slower permit timelines (4 to 7 business days), higher fees ($150 to $250), and outright bans on bins on some PCH-adjacent streets.

Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Westminster

Standard 2 to 4 business days, $80 to $130.

South County (Mission Viejo, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch)

Permits issued by city within 2 to 3 days, but HOA approval is the bigger lift. Get HOA sign-off before booking the bin.

We pull any of these permits on your behalf. Tell the rep your address and how long you need it; the permit fee is quoted on the call.

What goes in the bin

Allowed and Prohibited Materials

Most household and construction debris goes straight in. California is stricter than most states on hazardous and electronic waste. These are not exceptions, the landfill will reject the load.

Allowed

  • Construction debris (lumber, drywall, framing)
  • Roofing materials and shingles
  • Concrete, brick, and stone (clean-load)
  • Household junk and furniture
  • Yard waste, branches, sod
  • Flooring (carpet, tile, hardwood, vinyl)
  • Cabinets and countertops
  • Non-refrigerant appliances (stoves, dishwashers)
  • Mattresses (additional fee per CA state law)
  • Drywall, plaster, tile

Prohibited (California rules are strict)

  • Hazardous chemicals, paint, solvents (HHW)
  • Tires of any size (Cal Tire Recycling Act)
  • Lead-acid and lithium batteries
  • Refrigerators, AC units, freezers (Freon)
  • Asbestos and ACM material
  • Medical waste, syringes
  • Propane and pressurized tanks
  • E-waste like TVs, monitors, computers (California EWRA)
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Treated lumber (CCA, in some MRF zones)

Not sure if something qualifies? Mention it when you call. The rep will tell you yes or no and explain alternatives if it is a no. Mixing prohibited items with regular debris triggers a contamination fee at the landfill.

Recycling rules in Orange County

Orange County's diversion targets are met through a network of MRFs operated by CR&R Environmental in Stanton, Republic Services in Anaheim, and Waste Management in Brea. Most C&D loads from OC route through CR&R's Stanton MRF or the Frank R. Bowerman Landfill in Irvine for sorted recovery. CalGreen requires 65% diversion of C&D waste — your contractor tracks the recycling tickets to satisfy the city's permit close-out.

Common Orange County project types we drop bins for

Newport Coast and Newport Beach teardowns

Big bins (30 or 40-yard), narrow streets, often staged on private land. Frequently bundled with porta potty for the build crew.

Mission Viejo and Lake Forest ADU additions

FAQs

How fast can you deliver in Orange County?
Same-day across Orange County when you call before noon. After noon we typically deliver next morning. Saturday and Sunday delivery is standard with no upcharge.
Do I need a permit?
No permit if the bin sits on private property — driveway, side yard, lot. Street placement requires a city encroachment permit. We pull it on your behalf for an additional fee.
What size dumpster do I need?
Most full-room remodels or roof tear-offs use a 20-yard. Whole-house cleanouts and major demo typically need a 30 or 40-yard. Garage cleanouts and small bath remodels fit in a 10 or 15-yard. The rep will size it on the call once you describe the project.
How much does a dumpster rental cost in Orange County?
Flat-rate pricing — typically $395 to $795 depending on size, ZIP, debris weight, and rental window. You will get the exact number on the phone in under 60 seconds, before you commit to anything. No fuel surcharges, no surprise landfill fees.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
7-day rental is included in the flat rate. Daily extensions available at the rate the rep quotes you on the call. Recurring service for active job sites runs on weekly or bi-weekly swap-out cycles.
Do you handle HOA-approved bin placement in Irvine and other master-planned communities?
Yes — but the HOA approval has to come from you. Most Irvine Ranch and South County HOAs require an architectural review form filed at least 5 business days before delivery. Submit your HOA paperwork first, then call us when you have the date.
Are you available in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach?
Yes, with the caveat that ROW permits in coastal cities take longer and cost more. Bins on private property (driveway, lot) skip all of that.
