Los Angeles County is 4,000 square miles, 88 cities, and roughly 10 million people. Every one of them generates trash and at any given moment a few thousand are renovating, demoing, or cleaning out something. We dispatch roll-off bins across the whole county — from Long Beach piers to Antelope Valley pads, from Westside teardowns to East LA garage cleanouts — same-day when you call before noon.
What makes LA hard for waste pickup is not distance, it is timing. The 405 at 4 PM. Permit timelines that vary by jurisdiction. Franchise hauler rules that differ block by block. We handle the routing, you get a flat rate on the phone and a bin on the driveway.
One call, two jobs. Need a porta potty for the crew? Bundle it with the dumpster on the same delivery and save 12% on the restroom. Ask the rep when you call.
Los Angeles County Doesn't Wait. Neither Should You.
Tight margins, tight schedules, weather windows that close fast. Here is what we hear most.
Crew Standing Around
Four guys at $50/hr (LA labor rate), waiting because the bin is still full from yesterday. That is $200 an hour burned.
LA City Franchise Rules
RecycLA franchise zones cover commercial waste in LA City — only authorized haulers can service certain ZIPs. We book operators who hold the right franchise so your job does not get tagged.
Permit Hassles
LA City StreetsLA, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Long Beach — every city issues its own ROW permit with its own fee and its own timeline. We pull it for you.
Wildfire and Earthquake Surge
Eaton, Palisades, Woolsey — every fire generates months of debris work. Earthquake events spike demand overnight. We surge capacity for declared disasters.

Los Angeles County dumpster permits, by city
Los Angeles County is the most fragmented permitting region in California. Each of its 88 cities runs its own encroachment permit process and the unincorporated county uses a separate process again.
Los Angeles (City)
StreetsLA issues encroachment permits in 1 to 5 business days. Fee around $135 plus a refundable deposit. Permits inside Beverly Hills 90210, Bel Air, and Hancock Park HPOZ areas have additional review.
Long Beach
Long Beach Public Works issues permits in 2 to 4 business days. Fee around $90. Bins in the downtown grid require Caltrans coordination if within 100 feet of the 710.
Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City
These cities are stricter and slower. Plan 3 to 7 business days. Fees range $125 to $250. Some streets are off-limits to bins entirely.
Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale
Standard turnaround 2 to 4 business days. Fees $80 to $120. Pasadena restricts placement on residential streets in Bungalow Heaven and other historic zones.
South Bay (Torrance, Carson, Lakewood, Bellflower)
Fast permits, generally 1 to 2 business days, fees under $100.
Unincorporated LA County
County Public Works handles unincorporated areas (East LA, Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Altadena, La Crescenta). Generally 2 to 3 business days, $75 to $110.
We pull any of these permits on your behalf. Tell the rep your address and how long you need it; the permit fee is quoted on the call.
Allowed and Prohibited Materials
Most household and construction debris goes straight in. California is stricter than most states on hazardous and electronic waste. These are not exceptions, the landfill will reject the load.
Allowed
- Construction debris (lumber, drywall, framing)
- Roofing materials and shingles
- Concrete, brick, and stone (clean-load)
- Household junk and furniture
- Yard waste, branches, sod
- Flooring (carpet, tile, hardwood, vinyl)
- Cabinets and countertops
- Non-refrigerant appliances (stoves, dishwashers)
- Mattresses (additional fee per CA state law)
- Drywall, plaster, tile
Prohibited (California rules are strict)
- Hazardous chemicals, paint, solvents (HHW)
- Tires of any size (Cal Tire Recycling Act)
- Lead-acid and lithium batteries
- Refrigerators, AC units, freezers (Freon)
- Asbestos and ACM material
- Medical waste, syringes
- Propane and pressurized tanks
- E-waste like TVs, monitors, computers (California EWRA)
- Pesticides and herbicides
- Treated lumber (CCA, in some MRF zones)
Not sure if something qualifies? Mention it when you call. The rep will tell you yes or no and explain alternatives if it is a no. Mixing prohibited items with regular debris triggers a contamination fee at the landfill.
Recycling rules in Los Angeles County
AB 939 and LA County's diversion target push most loads through Material Recovery Facilities before residue goes to landfill. The major MRFs serving LA County include Athens Services in Sun Valley, Burrtec in Azusa, WM Sun Valley, and Republic Services in Wilmington. Construction and demolition loads from LA City must include a C&D Recycling Plan when the project value exceeds $50,000 — your contractor handles the paperwork, but the bin needs to go to a certified MRF for the diversion to count.
Common Los Angeles County project types we drop bins for
Hollywood Hills hillside teardowns
Big lots, narrow access roads, often 30 or 40-yard bins shuttled in two trips because the truck cannot make the turn. Tell the rep about the access if your driveway is north of Mulholland.
Westside remodels
Santa Monica, Brentwood, West LA, Mar Vista. Mostly 20-yards on driveways. HPOZ and historic district rules sometimes restrict bin visibility from the street.
South Bay roof tear-offs
Torrance, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Gardena. Tile and shingle roofs in the 1,800–2,400 sq ft range. A 15-yard handles shingles, 20-yard for tile.
San Fernando Valley garage cleanouts
Van Nuys, Reseda, Northridge, Burbank. Smaller post-war homes with attached garages. 10 or 15-yard usually does it in one drop.
Long Beach commercial demos
DTLB and Bixby Knolls retail conversions, restaurant gut-jobs. Often 30-yard with mid-job swap-outs.
Antelope Valley new construction
Palmdale and Lancaster have an active SFH construction market. Builders run recurring 30-yard bins on 8 to 12 active pads.
Wildfire debris (foothill communities)
Altadena, La Crescenta, Sunland, Tujunga. Phase 1 government cleanup vs. Phase 2 private haul — we do Phase 2.
